As a production manager and a designer, Erica Aitken was mortified that she could never properly explain (bad) colors to her customers. A bit of reading, a talk with her future business partner, and a few too many seminars convinced her that she would better serve her fellow designers by starting a business that would bring beautiful, predictable and accurate proofs. The rest, since the beginning of Rods and Cones in 1996, is written in color management history. Always pushing the bar, Erica designed, published and launched Out of Chaos, the first app based magazine for color management professionals.  Erica’s formal education includes a BFA from the Ecole de Recherches Graphiques, a MFA from the University of Baltimore, and, a BDE from UCLA’s Anderson School of Business. Erica serves as an Advisory Board Member for PIA’s annual Color Conference and is both an Advisor and Founding Member of the Color Management Group.
